    Battle of Ball's Bluff
    On October 20, 1861 McClellan ordered Gen. Charles Stone to send a scouting party across the Potamac River. To see where the Confederate Col. Nathan Evan's troops were. Since it was dark they mistook a line of trees for a line of tent, when they went they realized it was not a camp. And ran into a company of Mississippi infranty and the battle began. The union supplies were coming really slow and when Col. Baker was killed the Union defense crumpled. The Conferderate won.
  • Battle of Belmont

    Battle of Belmont
    Union forces Ulysses Grant over ran Confederate camp at the Battle of Belmont in Missouri. But were forced to leave when additional confederat troops arrived. Although the Union clamied victoty, they gained no ground. And left the Confederates in control of the section of the Mississippi River.
  • Battle of Mill Springs

    Battle of Mill Springs
    Fought on January 19, 1862 near Nancy Kentucky. It led to an important Union win of the Civil War. Union forces ked by George Thomas defeated the Confederates u der command of George Crittenden and Felix Zollicoffer. Felix was shot and killed. This win helped bolter sagging Northern moral, and helped keep Kentucky and its population more solidly with in control of the Union
  • Battle of Fort Henry

    Battle of Fort Henry
    Was a significant Union victory of the Civil War. While trying to gain control of rivers and supply lines west of the Appalachians. Union General Ulysses Grant and Commander Andrea Foote launched an attack on Fort Henry in Tennessee. 10 days later by the capture of Columbia and Tennessee rivers to Union control. Which cut off Confederate access to 2 key water ways.
