    The battle of Lexington and Concord was the first battle in the Revolutionary War. At the battle of Lexington, the British commander in Boston sent troops to steal weapons from the colonists. There were shots fired and 8 men died. Britain went on to Concord where they suffered a loss to the colonies.
  • Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill (or Breed’s Hill) was a victory for the British in Massachusetts. Although the Americans lost, they inflicted significant casualties against the British.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The Battle of Saratoga was the first battle when Americans and British faced each other. The army was made up of militia who were not very well trained. Instead of retreating, they faced the British and won. This battle was important because it allowed the French to come in on our side to give us naval power, troops, and money.
  • Battle of Trenton

    The Battle of Trenton was when George Washington snuck the boat across the Delaware River to Trenton, New Jersey. They defeated 1,000 Hessians after they surrendered to them.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    General Albert Cornwallis massed his troops in Yorktown to be supplied by Chesapeake Bay. This didn’t work out because the French arrived to Chesapeake Bay. The French sank British ships and bombard Cornwallis from the sea, causing Cornwallis to surrender to the French.
