    Herren;s high school basketball career begins in the fall of 1989 and continued until 1994.

    Herren was named the Gatorade and the Boston Globe player of the year. He was also a McDonald's all american. He finished his high school career with 2,073 points.
  • Boston College

    Boston College
    Herren plays in his first game at BC. He scored fourteen points but broke his wrist and was out for the remainder of the season.Herren also failed repeated drug tests while at BC. At the end of the season Herren was expelled from the university for cocaine university.
  • Fresno State

    Fresno State coach Jerry Tark recruted Chris after Herren was kicked out of BC. Herren played successfully at Fresno from 1995-1999. HIs first game was December 10 1996.

    Herren left Fresno to attend a rehab center after failing another drug test at Fresno. Herren returned to Fresno 28 days later.

    Herren was selected second round of the 1999 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets. Herren played one season with the Nuggets and was then traded to the Celtics.

  • Charged with Possession

    In December 2004, Herren was charged with possession of heroin and driving under the influence with a revoked license in a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot.
  • Recovery

    Herren was pronounced dead for thirty seconds after overdosing with heroin. Herren was then put in a rehab facility but was realeased for the birth of his son. While on his release, Herren relapsed before returning to the rehab center. Herren's wife told him to leave and never come back. A councelor at the rehab center told him that was what was best for his family. Since that day, Herren has been sober.

    Herren leaves Daytop and goes to a halfway home to continue his recovery. He aquires his first real job repurposing cars. He then returned home right before Christmas in 2008. He worked on rebuilding his relationships with his wife and children.

    Hoop Dreams
    Herren created the company Hoop Dreams with Chris Herren. He coaches basketball for children and shares his story with schools and other organization.

    Herren has been sober since 2008. He now runs Hoop Dreams and travels around to schools and other organizations sharing his story and inspiring others facing problems he was able to overcome.
