    The Afghan Cameleers
    The explorers and settlers found that horses and wagons are not suitable anymore for transport. In that solution.camels were known for crossing the hot,dry land. It was also required to recruit the cameleers since they needed skilled people to handle the camels. Although the cameleers were known as "afghans" though only some of them came from Afghanistan. Other cameleers came from British India (now known as Pakistan and India), Persia (now Iran) or other parts of Central and South Asia.
  • The Chinese Miners

    The  Chinese Miners
    The Chinese miners came to Australia because the were enslaved as workers in the goldfields.They were brought in because the convicts workers were dwindling (meaning decreasing).By 1861 the Chinese people covered 3 per cent of the population. After the gold rushes, most of the Chinese people became farmers growing vegetables to sell at the markets in the town or the cities. The other people made small businesses or worked as traders,shipping in and out to Australia and Asia.
  • The German Vignerans

    The German Vignerans
    During the First World War, over 100,000 Germans in Australia were incarcerated. Many of them were labelled as enemy aliens and were unable to challenge their imprisonment. They were eventually deported in 1919 in a government-backed ethnic cleansing operation.
  • The Japanese Pearlers

    The Japanese Pearlers
    The Japanese Pearlers came to Australia because of the sugarcane industry. They did not have to follow the white Australian policy. It was cheap labour and a great deal. The suits helped the divers stay deeper and made them easier to hold their breath. In the indigenous archaeology, they threw the pearls away but they sold the shells as if they were diamonds.
