  • Paris Peace Conference

    Paris Peace Conference
    The Paris Peace Conference was a meeting between the allies during the war to set peace terms for the defeated central powers. The peace conference involved diplomats from over 32 countries and nationalities.
  • The Chanak Crisis

    The Chanak Crisis
    After the Greek forces were defeated by the Turks, the Turks recaptured their land, Chanak. However the British and French troops still remained stationed at Chanak. The British threatened the Turks for war after claiming they had broken the Treaty of Sevres.
  • Halibut Treaty

    Halibut Treaty
    A Canadian-American agreement discussing fishing rights in the North Pacific. However, the Britich wished to sign the agreement along with Canada in tradition, but King Mackenzie argued that it was solely between Canada and America only, and that they had the right to do so.
  • The King-Byng Crisis

    The King-Byng Crisis
    In 1925, when Prime Minister Mackenzie King wanted to dissolve government and call a general election, the Governor General, Lord Byng of Vimy, refused the request of the Prime Minister. Traditionally, the Governor General must accept the Prime Minister's request. This lead to the Statute of Westminister in 1931.

    The Balfour Report
    The Balfour Report is a document the declares Canada as a self governing nation. The report also declared that Britain and the dominions of Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, and the Irish Free State were all autonomous communities withing the British Empire, equal in status.
  • The Statute of Westminister

    The Statute of Westminister
    A British law clarifying the powers of Canada's Parliament and the other dominions. Giving them full legal freedom.
