  • Ancient Art

    Ancient Art

    Began with the invention of writing and includes metal work and pottery. This kind of art was more of drawings than color.
  • Renaissance

    Renaissance

    Revival of interest in the arts and classical world. This began in Italy. Some of the world's most famous artists were from this time including DaVinci.
  • Baroque

    Baroque

    This era was more encouraged by the catholic church. This time was simpler and more traditional. It began as a reaction of the Mannerist style.
  • Impressionism

    Impressionism

    This was a big break in tradition from European paintings. It incorporated more color and tone and would be seen as if you are looking at something from a distance.
  • Post-Impressionism

    Post-Impressionism

    Most artists abandoned the impressionism style and quickly moved onto their own style. It is very similar to impressionism, however.
  • Expressionism

    Expressionism

    This era had more of an exaggeration effect and was influenced in theatre. Artists depicted styles that influenced them and would bring an emotional appeal to the viewer.
  • Cubism

    Cubism

    Used a system in which 3D objects were incorporated into paintings. This began in Paris in the early 1900s.
  • Dada

    Dada

    This was basically art that was very unpredictable and random. Confusing the viewer was the key.
  • Op Art

    Op Art

    This art is very abstract and common in many parts of the world. This is one of the newer arts.
  • Pop Art

    Pop Art

    This is the most prominent art in America and uses a lot of color. This art features many common objects.
