On April 16, 1977, the Apple II was introduced at the West Coast Computer Faire. This computer featured character-based cell-color graphics and an open architecture. The Apple II also introduced a 5 1/2 inch floppy disk drive and interface, the Disk II. The Apple II was chosen to be the desktop platform for the first "killer app" of the business world, VisiCalc, which was a spreadsheet program.
