Introduced influx control: applicable to black males only. People who were deemed to be leading idle/dissolute lives or who had committed certain specified offences could be removed from an urban area. -

Prohibited marriages between whites and members of other racial groups. -

Extended the 1927 Immorality Act to all black people - including coloreds and Asians -

Required people to be identified and registered from birth to belong to one of four distinct racial groups. -
Group Areas Act No 41
Provided for areas to be declared for exclusive use of one particular racial group. People began to live in areas based on color. -
Black Building Workers Act No 27
Prohibited blacks from performing skilled work in the building industry in white urban areas, -
Criminal Law Amendment Act No 8
Made civil disobedience punishable with a three-year jail sentence.
