  • The Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand (contains link for Crash Course)

    The assassination of the Archduke set off a chain of events where the Serbian government was blamed for the attack by many in countries which settled the question of Slav nationalism. Because Russia supported Serbia, an Austro-Hungarian declaration of war was delayed until its leaders received confirmation from Kaiser Wilhelm that Germany would support their cause. on July 28, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia.

    Alliances

    There were many alliances made but this lead to them being forced to declare war if one of their allies declared war first.
  • AMERICA!!!

    America entered World War 1 to join its allies: Britain, France, and Russia. However, many Americans were not in favor of the U.S. entering the war and wanted to remain neutral in the conflict.

    Armistice was signed in Redonthes in France, marking the end of World War 1.

    Hitler
    Adolf Hitler was named chancellor of Germany.
  • Invasion of Poland

    Germany invaded Poland with the results being the Polish army being defeated within weeks of the invasion. Germany directly annexed those the former Polish territories along German's eastern border.
  • Western European States in Trouble

    The Western European states were overwhelmed where Germany invaded Vichy France. Multiple French ships were sunk at Oran which caused a rift between the French and the Allies.

    Hiroshima and Nagasaki had a nuclear bomb dropped on them resulting in the deaths of many.
