  • War of 1812 ends

    The war of 1812 ended with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, letting father return
  • Construction begins on the Erie Canal

    COnstruction begins on the eire canal which will revolutionize the way goods are moved, which will help Lee use advances in technology during the civil war
  • Panic of 1819

    The panic of 1819 was the first major economic crsis in america and helped to put lee and his family in debt
  • Indian Removal Act is signed into law

    The Indian Removal Act is signed, forceing the army to move indians to the west, this is where Lee and other leaders in the civil war got their first taste of the military

    The Nate Turner slave Rebellion was one of the first major abolitonist movements of the 1800s. This was when the line between pro slavery and abolitionist began to begin to divide greatly.

    The sharps rifle revolutionized how firearms in the futrure would be used
  • Mexican American War begins

    The Mexican American War begins, this is where Lee began to work his way through the militray ranks
  • Steam Boats become the most used mode of transportation

    Steam boats replace small boats and horses to move goods and people along the rivers, these rivers and the boats will later become very important deciding who will win the civil war

    The John brown slave Rebellion was when John Brown, slaves, and abolistionist stormed the armory at Harpers Ferry and the rebellion was ordered to be put down by Lee
  • Southern states begin to succed

    The cotton producing states begin to succed which begins to hurt northen textials
  • South Carolina succeeds

    South Carolina becomes the first state to succed from the union, starting the dominio effect that lead to the civil war
  • Licoln becomes president

    Licoln is sworn in as the 16th president of the United States
  • Lee resigns from the army

    Lee resigned from the army to go fight for the confederacy
  • Jfferson davis becomes president of the CSA

    Jefferson Davis becomes the first and only president of the CSA
  • Emancipation Proclimation

    Licoln publishes the emancipation proclimation giving hope to slaves in the south
  • New York Draft Riots

    Men n New York Riot against the draft
  • Surrender at Appomattox

    Lee surrenders to Grant at Appomattox Courthouse, effectivly ending the civil war

    John Wilkes Booth assassinated Licoln at Ford's Theather
