    Proclamation of Neutrality
    The U.S. owed money to France from helping them win their independence. France and Great Britain were in a war and warned the U.S. about taking sides. The U.S. stayed neutral. then the British made U.S. sailors join the British navy.
  • Alien and Sedition acts

    Alien and Sedition acts
    Foreigners were coming into the country. The president was considered dangerous at the time. you have to live in the U.S. for 14 years to become a U.S. citizen. States disagreed and revolted.

    Tripoli needed money from the U.S.. Tripoli issued war against the U.S. because they were denied the money. they invaded the U.S. then Naval war peace treaty was made June 1805. Jefferson increased the size of the navy. image from: Barbary warfare
  • Louisiana purchase

    Louisiana purchase
    Thomas Jefferson bought Louisiana for 1.5 million dollars. Then he sent Lewis and Clark to explore the new land. This purchase got us Louisiana, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas.

    Great Britten was in a war against France. Great Britten told native Americans to attack western American settlers. The war stopped people from burning down government buildings. Andrew Jackson and William H Harrison were soon elected President. image: tiki-toki

    Taxes were high so not a lot of people could afford foreign goods. The south paid more for goods and for their processed goods. Foreign countries bought less of their goods because of the price.
