  • Tarrifs

    Hamilton, being apart of Washington's Cabinet opposed tariffs to help with national debt. This led to the money being mainly used to pay government officials and also led to the creation of the U.S Bank.
  • Genét

    Genét, a French Ambassador to the Americans, used his power unfairly to try and get American Citizens to fight the British in a war between them ( The British ) and the French.
  • Jay's Treaty

    When it looked like war was close between the Americans and the British again, Washington sent Chief Justice John Jay to negotiate and prevent another war. This happened to be successful and also led to the British finally leaving American Forts. However it still caused controversy.
  • Whiskey Rebellion

    Whiskey Rebellion

    The Whiskey Rebellion was an attempted revolution against the American government in 1794. The Rebellion was due to the taxation of Whiskey in the south. However the Rebellion was put to an end by Washington and an army 12,000 men that Washington had gathered.
  • Political Parties.

    Nearing the end of Washington's presidency. The two rivals ( Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson ) led to the creation of some form of early political parties, even after Washington had looked down on parties. The parties that were formed were the Federalist party ( Hamilton ) and The Democratic Republicans ( Jefferson )
  • The XYZ Affair.

    At the start of Adam's presidency it looked like war was close with France and the Americans. Adams tried to stop the conflict by sending officials to Paris. They were met by agents only going by X, Y and Z and were asked to pay a hefty loan. The Americans returned home and this led to outrage against the French by the American Citizens.
  • The Alien and Sedation Acts.

    The Alien and Sedation Acts.

    These were acts imposed by the Adam's administration. They imposed that anyone who said anything "malicious" against the American government, could be put on trial and punished. Under this act, 10 Democratic Republicans were convicted and many others were put on trial
  • Prosser Rebellion

    The Prosser Rebellion was an attempted Rebellion against the American Government led by Gabriel Prosser ( A slave ) and 30 others. It was however, shut down and the members were executed.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase

    This event was huge for American History. It took place under Jefferson's presidency and Napoleon's rule over his French Empire. Napoleon had gained land in the West of America from Spain and sold it to the Americans.
  • Downfall of the Federalists.

    During the presidency of Jefferson. the support for the Federalists fell as everyone was relatively happy with Jefferson as a president. Many of the farmers that lived in the states had supported Jefferson.
  • The last of Hamilton.

    Infighting between the Vice President Aaron Burr and Hamilton ( Both Federalists ) led to a duel between Burr and Hamilton. It resulted with the death of Hamilton. Burr escaped to New York but was put on trial for treason in 1807
  • The Chesapeake

    Jay's Treaty had expired in 1805. Until then, America had been at peace. After this however, Europe was at war again and the French began to harass trade ships between the British and the Americans. This also happened vice versa between French Trade ships between Americans. the USS Chesapeake was fired upon by the British which led to the death of 21 U.S Citizens.
  • Embargo of 1807

    Near the end of Jefferson's second term he placed an Embargo stopping the United State's trade between all foreign states/countries. This angered the American people and especially New Englanders who made their money through trade. This didn't stop Democratic Republicans however in 1808, a Jeffersonian Republican named James Madison was elected
