    As supplies began to run low six marines are hanging for robbing the public stores. Governor Philip provokes hostility from the marines by insisting that all men and women, free and unfree, are to recieve the same amount of rations, and to be hanged and flogged alike for crimes.

    Grants of land have now been made to 177 farmer-settlers, two-thirds of whom are ex-convicts. The settlement now comprises parramatta and Sydney, with a small establishment on Norfolk island.

    After a 12 year 'Guerrilla War', Pemulwuy eora resistance fighter is shot and killed by two settlers. His head is preserved and sent to Sir Joseph Banks in London by Governor King, king writes that although a terrible pest to the colony, he was a brave and independent character Pemulwuy's son, Tedbury continues the resistence for the next 8 years.

    Govner Lachlan Macquarie arives in NSW to reimpose British Goverment control. The NSW corps is disbanded. Macquarie establishes the first proper colonial Police force.

    The British Government claims Western Australia and captain Stirling lands at the mouth of the swan river, to establish the swan river colony, now Perth. The whole continent of Australia is now claimed as Britain.

    The British Government decides to abolish the convict assignment
    The British Government decides to abolish the assignment system. Covicts shall no longer be given to settlers and work as shepherds but instead be put into government road gangs in Van Diemen's land. Transportation to the mainland of Australia is to cease entirely. As a result of these decisions, conditions for convicts become dramatically worse.
