On Anne's thirteenth birthday she receives her first ever diary from her parents. She names her diary Kitty and decides to write it as if she is writing it to someone.
-
In July 1942 Anne's sister Margot is called up to go to a camp, so Anne and the rest of her family (including Margot) decide to move in to a secret annex at her dads work.
-
After Anne gets a little bit more settled in at the Annex, she begins writing more. She also begins more frequently writing in her diary all about daily life and what is happening in the annex
-
After a few days alone in the Annex another family moves in with them. The Van Pels, Auguste Van Pels, Hermann Van Pels, and their son Peter Van Pels.
-
A little while in to living at the annex an 8th (and final) person moves in with everyone. His name is Fritz Pfeffer. Anne has to share a room with him and they did not get along in the beginning of him living there.
-
In 1944 someone betrayed them and told the police where their annex was. The police went out, found them, and arrested them all. After that they were all sent to numerous concentration camps.

Edith Frank died at the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp.
-
Otto Frank was liberated from the Auschwitz camp by the Russian army. After the war he made his way back to Amsterdam and lived out his life there.
-
Anne and Margot Frank both died at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, although we don't have an exact date of their death they were within days of each-other. We also know that they weren't killed but rather died of an illness sometime in March.
