    France sold the United States 828,000 acres of land for $15 million. The purchase stretched from the Mississippi river to the beginning of the Rocky Mountains. It was a huge addition to the United States.The purchase was a political and econimcal event because it was a huge political decision for Jefferson. Also, it avoided a possible war with France.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    In 1820 congress passed an agreement between pro-slavery and anti-slavery groups in the United States.It prohibited slavery in the old Lousiana territory. The Missouri compromise was a political, economical and social event. Political because there were many debates if the states would be admitted as free or slave states. Economical because it made it not have too many states based on agriculture and not too many on manufacturing. Also, it was social because it created "north" and "south."

    Nat Turner's Rebellion
    A slave named Nat Turner led a rebellion, along with a group followers they killed 60 white men, women and children. They were captured and executed. This event was social because Nat Turner's decision led many people to question slaves.

    U.S troops expelled the Chereokee Indians from their homeland in the Southeast and removed them to the Idnian territory which is now Oklahoma. This was signed by presidet Andrew Jackson. This event was social because the Indians had to be removed from where they always lived. It changed their lives.
