Nullification Crisis
In 1828,congress passed a higher tariff,making European goods more expensive, causing a crisis and uproar in the south about their right to nullify it which resulted in congress passing a lower tariff bill and the force bill which allowed Jackson to use military force to enforce the law. -
Worcester v. Georgia
In 1832,the Cherokee sued the state of Georgia in the supreme court case Worchester v. Georgia which resulted in John Marshall stating that the Cherokee had a right to stay because of the 1790's treaties they made which caused Jackson to respond that Marshall had made his decision and should enforce it. -
Bank War
In 1832,Jackson vetoed the renewal of the national bank charter,declaring war on the bank,and decided to kill the bank by placing all government deposits into state banks because the national bank was unconstitutional . -
Trail of Tears
In 1838,the US sent the Cherokee Indians West to Oklahoma on what is known as the Trail of Tears,which led to the death of one fourth of the Cherokee tribe by the end of the journey due to hunder,illness,and extreme weather exposure.
