    Important because the British were trying to take weapons but the revolutionaries pushed them back.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    Britain: William DeLaPlace America: Benedict Arnold
    Important because the rebels forces recieved ammunition and was an important early victory for them.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Britain: Sir William Howe America: William Prescott
    Important first victory for the revolutionary forces- defended boston and made aware to both sides that the war wasn't going to be easy or short.

    Was a very depressing time for the rebels; large and expansive retreats with no supplies and demoralizing defeats- some victories and many crossing of the Delaware river Princeton- Britain- William DeLaPlace America- George Washington
    Inspiring victory against the odds here- middle of winter low supplies and many men had their enlistment ending- Washington inspired his troops
  • Battle of Saratoga (Bemis Heights)

    Britain- John Burgoyne America- Benedict Arnold, Horatio Gates, and Benjamin Lincoln
    Very important- hessian troops layed down their arms and surrendered- a major turning point of the war- Stopped Burgoyne and his advance to the coast to meet a larger british force
  • Siege of Charleston

    Britain- Marion Arbuthnot and Henry Clinton America- Benjamin Lincoln
    Signified the beginning of the rebel take over in the south- the british believed they controlled 100% the south however this started the campaign to start controlling to south for the colonies
  • Battle of King's Mountain

    Britain- Patrick Ferguson America-James Johnston, William Campbell, John Sevier
    Another southern victory for the patriots- invaded a large loyalist population ad retreated north into the colonial controlled area- Caused Cornwallis to retreat (deeper) into South Carolina
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Britain- Charles Cornwallis America- George Washington
    The end fo the major revolutionary war battles- Britain surrendered to Washington and the Colonial army with Cornwallis giving up his sword to Washington (indirectly)
