  • Lexington and Concord

    The first battle of the American Revolution where hundreds of British soldiers marched from Boston to Concord to seize military supplies hidden. A confrontation on the Lexington town green started fighting and the british retreated because of heavy fire.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    Located in northeastern New York it served as a key access to Canada and the Hudson River Valley during the French and Indian War. From Massachusetts Benedict Arnold joined Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont in a dawn attack of the fort. This was the first American Victory of the Revolutionary War. This gave the Continental Army much-needed artillery to be used in future battles.
  • Bunker (Breed's) Hill

    The British Army sent troops across the Charles River to capture the colonist's cannons on Breed's Hill that overlooked Boston and was connected to Bunker Hill. This was the biggest battle of the American Revolution. The inexperienced colonial forces inflicted significant casualties against the enemy, and the battle provided them with an important confidence boost.
  • Trenton/Princeton (NJ Campaign)

    After General George Washington crossed the Delaware on Christmas of 1776, won the Battle of Princeton and the Battle of Trenton. In the Battle of Trenton (December 26), Washington defeated Hessian mercenaries before withdrawing. A week later he returned to Trenton to lure British forces south, then executed a night march to capture Princeton on January 3. The victories reasserted American control of much of New Jersey and greatly improved the morale and unity of the colonial army and militias.
  • Saratoga (Bemis Heights, the second battle)

    Battle in NY state in 1777. Burgoyne's second attack met a fierce resistance by the Americans, lead by Major General Benedict Arnold. The Americans won proved to be a major turning point. The American victory convinced the French government to formally recognize the colonist’s cause and enter the war as their ally.
  • Siege of Charleston

    Americans suffer worst defeat of the Revolution. After a siege that began on April 2, 1780- May 12. 1780, with the surrender of Major General Benjamin Lincoln to British Lieutenant General Sir Henry Clinton and his army of 10,000 at Charleston, South Carolina.
  • King's Mountain

    Patriots under Colonel William Campbell defeat Tories under Major Patrick Ferguson at the Battle of King’s Mountain in South Carolina. Ferguson's troops were surrounded at the top of the hillside. They led a charge down the mountain and he and many of his troops were killed. The Tories-157 killed, 163 wounded, and 698 captured. Colonel Campbell’s force- 28 killed and 60 wounded.
  • York Town

    An American force of Colonial and French troops laid siege to the British Army at Yorktown, Virginia. Led by George Washington and French General Comte de Rochambeau. The final attack on October 14th, captured two British defenses and led to the surrender, just days later.
