    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    Tensions had been building between the thirteen colonies and British authorities On the night of April 18, 1775, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to a place near Concord in order to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere and other riders sounded the alarm. A confrontation on the Lexington town green started off the fighting, and soon the British were hastily retreating under intense fire. The main targets of the battle were Sam Adams and John Hancock.49 were colonists were killed.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The battle took place in 1775. Under William Prescott's command, the colonists built earthen fortifications on top of Breed’s Hill, overlooking Boston. Originally the militiamen were suppose to build the fortification on top of bunker hill but moved to breeds hill instead. the British charged twice and on the third charged the forced the colonists to retreat. The Americans in total hurt 1000 British men and the British killed over 100 Americans and hurt 300 men.

    the colonists captured fort Ticonderoga in April of 1775. Fort Ticonderoga was located directly across Lake Champlain from Vermont, where the Green Mountain Boys–a militia organized in 1770 to defend the property rights of local landowners–joined the revolutionary effort without hesitation. Ethan Allen, and Benedict Arnold lead this militia. Cannons captured at Fort Ticonderoga would be used during the successful Siege of Boston the following spring.

The sneak attack on December 26,1776 surprised the british military those who were not prepared to fight died. This was a strong victory for the colonists this improved their morale because of the strings of unsuccessful battles at the start of the war.

    The British planned to control Upstate NY and isolate New England from the Southern colonies to put an end to the war.British troops led by John Burgoyne,went south from Montreal to Albany.Once there,they joined forces with 2 other British commands,one coming north from NYC and the other coming along the Mohawk River valley. News of the battle reached France,Minister Charles Gravier made arrangements with Benjamin Franklin to provide French aid to the US.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The significance of the conflict was that Cornwallis, general of british, surrendered to George Washington as French and American forces trapped the British at Yorktown. The British surrender at the Battle of Yorktown ended the American Revolutionary War.
