    Lexington and Concord

    This is the battle that started the American Revolution. 700 british troops arrived in Lexington compared to the 77 militiamen. Thomas Gage was the leading British officer when they came into Lexington while the elect milita led the milita. The importance of this battle was it proved the colonist could stand up to one of the most powerful armies at the time.

    Fort Ticonderoga

    Fort Ticonderoga was a key point of access to whoever had it because you had access o both Canada and the Hudson River Valley during the French and Indian War. The militia was under command from Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen while the british were lead by William Delaplace. Fort Ticonderoga was not really used after the war but it served as the first win for the American in the war.

    Bunker Hill

    During Bunker Hill it was bib battle. The British captured Charlestin Peninsula and won the battle. Even though the Colonist lost the battle gave them an important confidence boost for later in the war. The leaders of British were William Howe and Thomas Gage while the leaders of the Colonist were William Prescott and Israel Putnam.

    Trenton/ Princeton (NJ Campaign)

    The battle of Trenton was a big battle for the Colonist because it was one of the first battles they won. Led by George Washington and Nathanael Greene they ran across the Delaware River and surprised the British winning. This inspired many more Colonist to join the army to help beat the British. The leaders of the British was Johann Rall.

    Saratoga

    The second battle of Saratoga was the changing point in the Revolutionary War. When the British troops surrendered about 5,000 troops to the Colonists with all their weapons. The leader of the British was John Burgoyne while Benedict Arnold and Horatio Gates led the Colonists. This battle was key because it showed the French we actually had a chance in it so they entered the war as our ally.

    Siege of Charleston

    The siege was one of the worst defeats in American history. After the Colonists took over most of the northern colonies, the British moved down south and attached the Colonist from there. Leaders Sir Henry Clinton and Lord Cornwallis attacked Charleston. After about six weeks of the siege the Colonists leader Benjamin Lincoln surrendered his forces to the British.

    King's Mountain

    King's Mountain was a victory for the Colonists, and it was also one of the first victory for the Colonists after the lost in the siege of Charleston. This was the war largest "all-American fight". The leaders of the Colonist were James Johnson and William Campbell while leaders of the British were Patrick Ferguson and Abraham DePeyster.

    Yorktown

    The battle at Yorktown was one of the final convincing battles where the Colonists won after they trapped the British in Yorktown where they surrendered to the Colonists. This was the battle the eventually ended the American Revolution. The Colonists had the help of the French to win. The leaders of the Colonist and French were George Washington and Comte de Rochambeau while the British were led by Lord Cornwallis and Charles O'Hara.
