  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress met in Philadelphia in 1774. Most of these men would soon be the leaders of our country and were also known as the founding fathers. All of the colonies except Georgia sent delegates. These men helped write the Declaration of Independence. They made a list of grievances and agreed to meet again in another year if England did not attend to them.
  • Paul Reveres Ride

    Paul Reveres Ride
    Paul Revere was a big help to the patriot cause. He gets most of his credit from the famous 'Paul Reveres Midnight Ride.' This ride was important because he forwarned all of the minutemen in advance to prepare themselves for the Redcoats that were marching towards Concord. He was not alone on this mission. He was accompanied by another man named William Dawes. Revere was captured and acually did not make it to Concord. He left it up to William Dawes to make it and he did.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    Delegates met again to discuss different issues. First, how would the colonists meet the military threat of the British? It was agreed that a Continental Army would be created. They also discussed independence, and would soon adopt the Declaration of Indepenedence. The Congress also commissioned George Washington of Virginia to be the Supreme General, who chose to serve without pay.
  • Battle Of Bunker Hill

    Battle Of Bunker Hill
    British General William Howe ordered his troops to cross the Charles River and attack the American troops on top of Bunker Hill. The British had the help of loyal colonists to aid them in any way they needed. The patriots at Bunker Hill were prepared to battle. The patriots fended the British off twice but they came back and were to much to handle a third time. Even though the British won The Battle Of Bunker Hill, nearly half of their people were either killed or wounded.
  • Benedict Arnold

    Benedict Arnold
    Benedict is most famous for his betrayel to George Washington and the colonial army. Washinton had placed alot of trust in Arnold, but he threw that trust away. He was a very smart man though, he was very tactical and strategic. He was resigning when George Washington asked Benedict if he could help another general. Benedict knew that he could find another way to help the British and betray the colonies.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    Valley Forge was a famous place because Washington's troops stayed there from December 1777 to June 1778. Valley Forge was horrible for the soldiers. It was cold, had little food, and little clothing. It was victory of struggles and hardships. It taught the value of courage and showed the commitment they had for their freedom.
  • French Alliance

    French Alliance
    The French decided to join the revolution against England. Members of the Continental Congress had been in France trying to convince them to join the colonists' cause, but they had not wanted to join untill the colonists won the Battle of Princeton and the Battle of Trenton. These battles showed the French that they were not just a bunch of farmers that couldnt fight and that they could do what was needed to gain their freedom.
