  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    This was the first battle of the American Revolution, which the colonist defeated the Red coats. This battle took place between the town Lexington and Concrod in Middlesex County, Massachussets Bay Provience. This is where the "Shot Heard Around the world" was first fired at.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    The colonist went to this hill planning to attack the red coats from above. The red coats were surpriesed that the colonist were going to attack them so they decided to attack back. The red coat's troops marched up the hill to attack back. The red coats had 2,300 go up the hill and 1,054 were either killed or wounded.
  • Battle of Long Island

    Battle of Long Island
    The British had recognized that New York was the focal point of communication between the Northern and Southern colonies, George Washington recognized this too. Washington marched his troops up to New York. Once getting there, The Britsh troops (45,000 men) attacked Washington's troops (20,000 men). This attack caused Washington to retreat and cross the East River into Manhattan. Washington left 3,00 men to defend Fort Washington and took the rest north.
  • Battle of Harlem Heights

    Battle of Harlem Heights
    Washington took 1,800 men to position on high grounds in upper Manhattan, to attack against Leslie's 5,000 men. The American's slowly pushed the British back and the British withdrawed. This battle being Washington's first victory as commander.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    General Washintgton and his troops spent winter of 1777-1778 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. They set up camp but had yo live in tents, which did not provide much warmth for them. Most of them had to share cloths since they didn't have proper clothing. In Febuary, 1778, they were able to set uo huts and a fire place. While they were at Valley Forge, the men spent most of their time improving their fighting skills.
  • Battle of Princeton

    Washington defeats the British in Princeton, New Jersey. Washington led a attack on Mawhood's troops causing them to retreat. Washington then moved his troops to Morristown, and with their 3rd defeat in 10 days, the British evacuated New Jersey. This battle caused more men to inroll into the Militia.
  • Battle of Germantown

    Battle of Germantown
    Washington attacked on Howe's troops stationed in Germantown. The morning started well for the Americans but soon they started to mess up. The American's served a defeat but it served to boost moral and self-esteem. They believed the lost was out of bad luck. America lost 152 men, 521 wounded, and over 400 captured. While the British capture 14 and casualties numbered 537
  • Battle of Barren Hill

    Battle of Barren Hill
    The colonist troops were lead by a French man called Marquis de Lafayette. Lafayette had hear that the British had sent 6,000 men to attack his left flank.The flanks scattered, and Lafayette ordered a retreat, but the bristish remaind indecisive. Laffayete had his troops go through the woods (Barren Hill) and fire upon the British on surprise.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    General Cornwallis had managed to get his troops into Yorktown, Virginia at this time. On September 5, 1771, the French fleet managed to attack the British near the Chesapeake Bay. General Cornwallis' troops were stuck between the American and French troops. They had no way to escape and they were running out of supplies. On October 17, 1781, General Cornwallis surrendered. This surrendered effected all the British troops and caused them to lose thus causing the Treaty of Paris.

    The Treaty Of Paris
    Britan and America signed The Treaty of Paris, ending the war. British agreed to let the colonies be free. There was establishments of borders between US and British North America. All prisoners of war from both sides were released. Territories of war were returned to their owners.
