    The second battle and the bloodiest battle of the Revolutionary War. It began after American Militiamen constructed a crude dirt fort at night atop a hill in CHarles Town Overlooking Boston's harbor. The redcoats began attacking but the americans did not start to fire untill they could see "the whites of the enemy's eyes." In the end redcoats suffered twice as many casualties as the Americans but the British still managed to win the bloodiest battle of Bunker Hill.

    Washington created a plan to drive the redcoats from the cuty if Britian refused to accept America's offer of peace. When washington found that king had declared war he gave his orders to have many cannons brought in from far-off Fort Ticonderoga. He waited for the snow so he could drag them out on sleds to Boston. As all this was happeneing American troops invaded British Canada and were defeated when they tried to capture the city of Quebec.

    Washington began to set up his winter encampment at Valley Forge. In a short time it became the second largest city in the U.S.A, with a population of twelve thousand men. Cabins were insainly crouded but they provided shelter from the wind and snow. Many man had hardships considering most lacked food, shoes, and clothing. By spring two thousand soldiers had died.

    British set up encampments on the outskirts of Yorktown, they positioned their weapons, built walls, and trenches. Later five thousand French troop marched to south virginia. After when Washington arrived he found out that A rench fleet had battled the ships to help the enemy's army and had forced them to turn back. This meant the british were trapped and outnumbered. October the shooting stopped and they surrendered.
