    *American casualties: 115 killed and 305 wounded; 30 captured.
    *Great Britain: 226 killed and 828 wounded; none captured

    *Washington and lee lost a quarter of their entire command.
    *Washington put himself into a trap' he split his tyroops between Manhattan and Long Island leaving ports open that the British could enter through.
    *Took place in Jamaica Pass in Brooklyn.
    *Washington ordered a evacuation.
    *British attack on empty trenches,

    *Approached the town and many people were drunk because it was Christmas time.(relaxed security)
    *Surprised the British and few were able to even put up a fight.
    *Washington knew the British had another army at Princeton so he decided to rertreat since his army was tired and only one third of his troops made it to Trenton like planned.

    *clash on Brandywine creek in southeastern Pennsylvania.
    *Howe divided his troops into two groups to attack Washington. One attacked from the front and the other went around to get behind washington.
    *This revolutionary defeat helped jumpstart the British conquest of Philadelphia.
    *September 26, 1777 General Howe marched into Philadelphia; however, he failed to give Washington a crushing blow as he planned.

    *Burgoynes had a goal of making it to Albany.

    *September 13th Burgoyne moved his trtoops across the river.
    *American attempts to retake Ticonderoga were unsuccessful.
    *Burgoyne had little to do but surrender at the end of the second battle.

    *The movement of the British disrupts Lee's plan to isolate and destroy the back guard.
    *Lee sees his men starting to fall and become weak.
    *calls for many parts to retreat.
    *Washington keeps going while Lee starts to retreat.
    *Washington fails to do what he planned, but he wounded many of the British troops.
    *A fail but also a success for the American army.

    *American defense tries to defend Savannah, Georgia under Robert Howe.
    *With only 700 men, the British start pushing the defense back.
    *With a loss of over 550 men, Howe is forced to retreat to South Carolina.

    *American army consisted of 1700 Continentals and 2700 militia.
    *Cornwallis was confident even though he was out numbered.
    *General Greene ordered his army to retreat, leaving Cornwallis with control of the battlefield.
    *Changed the tides of the ongoing war between British and Americans.

    *American forces were helped by French forces to defeat British led by General Cornwallis.
    *Last major land battle of the Revolutionary War.
    *Much needed victory for the Americans.
    *Cornwallis' surrender prompted the British government to negotiate to put an end to the conflict. I used the American Revolution.org for all my information on this timeline.
