    The night before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War, the steeple of this Boston church blowed with the light of two lanterns. The lights were a signal to the patriots that British tropps, known as "recoats", were coming to search for weapons. No on knows who fired the first shot, but when it was over eight minutemen died. By the time the battle of Lexington and Concord was over 250 British soldiers and 90 Americans had been kiilled or wounded.

German officer named Baron Von Stueben drilled and trained the American troops nti lthey became a much more disciplinedanddetermined fighting force.

    The British under took a major military campagin in the southern state where a lot of people were against independence. The king's force seized Savannah, Georgia and soon took control of the whole state. United States suffered a string of bitter defeats in the south. But eventually they started to win again.

    Yorktown, Virginia: The Last Battle of the Revolutionary War
    A French fleet had abttled the ships soming to help the enemy's army and hadforced them to turn back. This meant the British were trapped and outnumbered. October 19, 1781 the shooting stopped and they surrendered. The war didnot officially enduntil 1783.
