    First battle of the American Revolution. The British were looking for a stockpile of weapons in Concord. 8 people were killed in Lexington. British retreated to Boston and the colonists didn't let them retreat so easily.
  • The Battle of Fort Ticonderoga

    Benedict Arnold, Ethan Allen, and the Green Mountain Boys surprised the British with a sneak attack on the British at Fort Ticonderoga, an American win, the first real victory.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The British marched up Bunker Hill three times before the colonists ran out of ammo. The British won that battle but it made them realize that this battle wouldn't be easy. It was a moral victory for the colonists, and gave them more confidence.

    General George Washington guessed after the British evacuated Boston that the British would attack New York. On August 27th, 1776, the British attacked Manhattan. Even though George Washington was ready for them, the British out smarted the colonists. This is one the colonists would not like to remember. A dominate British victory.

    On December 26, 1776, The Continental Army charged Trenton, New Jersey. Washington and the Continental Army caught the Hessians(British soldiers from Germany) by surprise and trapped the Hessians in Trenton, to get a crucial win.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The Battle of Saratoga was a turning point for the colonists. This victory was a crucial one because they would have never gotten any help from the French. On September 17, 1777 the British attempted to isolate New England from the colonies, but General Horatio Gates and The Continental Army held up. On October 7, 1777 they charged again this time defeating the colonists. They moved forward to Saratoga. During the night, The Continental Army surrounded the British, forcing them to surrender.
  • Battle of Monmouth

    In nearly 100 degree weather 5,000 Continental Army soldiers attacked 15,000 British soldiers from the rear. 6,000 soldiers joined the The Continental Army shortly. The high-motivated soldiers worked hard and fought to a "tie". In the morning, The Continental Army planned to attack in the morning, but during the night the British retreated. Which technically was an American victory.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Battle of Cowpens
    General Daniel Morgan and his militia took on Cornwalis and about 1000 British soldiers vs. 1500 american soldiers. With strategy and trickery the american soldiers captured over 500 British soldiers during their one hour battle.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    General George Washington and The Continental Army trapped Cornwalis and 7000 British soldiers at Yorktown. On October 7, 1781, General Cornwalis surrendered to General George Washington. This wasn't the last battle, but it was the almost certain after that battle that the colonies were going to win the war.
