    Lexington and Concord

    On April 18, 1775 the British were planning to capture military supplies and to try to arrest John Hancock and Samuel Adams. This was the night of Paul Revere's ride. Revere and Dawes didn't make it to Concord, Revere was captured and Dawes was chased off. The Patriots won at Concord but were defeated at Lexington. The British suffered 273 casualties while the Patriots only suffered 95. The militia of Boston fought against the British while they were commanded by Thomas Gage.

    Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill took place on June 17, 1775 near the Boston Harbor. This was the first all out battle of the Revolutionary War. Some of the commanding officers that were in this battle were Thomas Gage and William Prescott. The British were aware of the colonial army's prescence and attack them. But the British sustained many casualties, but the British won this battle as the patriots retreated.

    Trenton/Princeton (NJ Campaign)

    George Washington and his army crossed the Delaware River on Christmas night. He and his army defeated 1,500 Hessian mercenaries who worked for the British. The British saw the loss at Trenton a minor strategic importance and let it go. But, Washington was having trouble recruiting people to join the army and he thought that a win would help boost the soldiers moral and to spark the idea to join and fight against the British.

    Battle of Saratoga

    The British planned an invasion that they hoped would end the war after their defeat at the NJ Campaign. British General John Burgoyne and General William Howe were trying to capture Philadelphia. This invasion was successful at first but then, loyalists were asking the British troops for protection. The Continetal Army stopped the Brits and they surrender. This battle proved the patriots could beat big armies and that the British were going to be in a long hard fought war.

    Siege of Charleston

    The Siege of Charleston was a British victory. After 6 weeks of siege major General Benjamin Lincoln surrendered to the British. About 3,400 Americans were captured.

    Yorktown

    The Continential Army in the south was lead by Nathanael Greene attempted to counter Cornwalis's success by fleeing. This sucked the British Army inland, this stretched British supply lines and countered British attempts to rally the loyalists.

    King's Mountain

    The battle of King's Mountain was a battle between the Patriots and the Loyalists. The Patriot militia defeated the loyalist militia in a quick decisive victory.
