    British were trying to find the militias stores of ammunition and arms. Paul Revere and William Dawes warned the militia that the British were coming. 79 militia met 1,000 British troops. 8 militia were killed. This was the first battle in the American Revolution.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    More volunteers joined the colonial militias. Soon the militia surrounded Boston. The militia around Boston numbered about 20,000 strong. Militia set up posts on Bunker Hill across the Harbor from Boston. The next day, the British assembled on the hill and charged. Due to low ammunition the British were forced to retreat twice, while on the third time charging to the fort that British accomplished taking over the the fort

Patriots where still determined to fight, but they could not overcome the bigger and better- equipped British Army. The Patriot were defeated but were determined to keep fighting.
