    The colonist won the Battle of Concord not Lexington. The Battle of Lexington & Concord kicked off to the American and Revolutionary War. It took place in Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. The colonist defeated 700 British soldiers and the surprise victory bolsters their confidence for the war ahead.

    Fort Ticonderoga occupied a key location it was near Lake Champlain in New York. Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen of nearby Vermont planned to attack this fort . They decided to join forces with Allen's men - the so, called Green Mountain Boys. Fort Ticonderoga surrendered May 10th 1775.

Nathan Hale showed his bravery by disguising himself as a Dutch schoolteacher to spy on British troops. Sadly, the British caught him and hung him as punishment. The British chased the continental Army across New Jersey into Pennsylvania.

    The Battle of Trenton was fought on the morning of December 26, 1776. The Americans won this battle. The Americans had about 2,400 soldiers commanded by George Washington. The British had about 1,400 Hessian soldiers commanded by Colonel Johann Rall. The significance of the battle was that the Hessian army was crushed in Washington's across the Delaware River. The Americans were very happy over the easy defeat.

    On October 17, 1777, 5,895 British and Hessian troops surrendered their arms. The "two" Battles of Saratoga was the turning point of the American Revolution. September 19th, British General John Burgoyne had victory over American forces led by Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold. General John Burgoyne attacked the American forces again on October 7th 1777 but, this time he was defeated by the American forces. The victory convinced the French government that the colonist’s were their ally.
