    Was the first battle of the American Revolution. The British started searching for guns and ammunition. While 8 colonists were killed in Lexington. Finally the British retreated to Boston.
  • Battle of Fort Ticonderoga

    Was a small green force of Green Mountain men. Were led by Ethan Allen and Colonel Benedict Arnold. They overcame a small British garrison at a fort, and also looted personal belongings.

    British were planning to send troops from Boston to occupy the hills surrounding the city. 1,000 colonial militiamen under Colonel William Prescott. The men had been ordered to construct their fortifications atop Bunker Hill but instead chose the smaller Breed’s Hill, closer to Boston.

    The Battle of Trenton was won by the American forces. The Trenton Battle pitted approximately 2,400 soldiers of the Continental Army. There was about 1400 Hessian soldiers.

    (September 19, 1777). The Battle of Saratoga, 5,895 British and Hessian troops surrendered their arms. Their surrender to American forces at the Battle of Saratoga marked a turning point in the Revolutionary War.

    (June 28, 1778 ). The Battle of Monmouth was an American Revolutionary War. Was fought in Monmouth County, NJ. The Continental Army attacked the rear of the British Army as they left Monmouth Court House. The battle is also known as the Battle of Monmouth Courthouse.
  • Battle at Cowpens

    Battle at Cowpens
    (January 17, 1781) The Battle at Cowpens was an engagement between American Patriot forces. Tarleton's force of 1,100 British in the King's Army were sent against 2,000 Morgan men. The Patriot forces conducted double of Tarleton's force, and suffered only 12 killed and 61 wounded. Tarleton had about 160 British troops to escape.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    (September 28 to October 19, 1781). The Battle of Yorktown had General George Washington commanding about 17,000 French and Continental troops. He begins the battle against British General Lord Charles Cornwallis and a contingent of 9,000 British troops at Yorktown, Virginia. It becomes the most important battle of the Revolutionary War.
