  • Battle at Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord kicked off the American Revolution. The tensions had been growing for years between the British and the 13 colonies. The colonist left Boston and marched to Concord to seise an arms cache, leaving the British to retreat under harsh fire.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    Fort Ticonderoga was a surprise attack on the British Fort that was the first Continental Army win. With the capture of the fort they got much needed artillery that they used in the future battles.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle was actually fought on the smaller hill of Breed's Hill, where the colonists had built their fortification. The British ended up winning this battle but they had a high cost that came with it. Nearly 1,000 soldiers were either hurt or killed while the colonists had only 400 killed or wounded. The realization that the war was going to be long and costly for the Americans but they could actually win against the British.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The two battles were eighteen days apart with the first being a costly victory for the British and the second an American win after the British General Burgoyne surrendered. The American victory showed the colonists cause to the French and they agreed to join the war as their allies. This battle was considered the turning point in the war.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga was the worst defeat of the Revolution for the Americans. General Benjamin Lincoln surrendered to British General Sir Henry Clinton. 3,000 colonial soldiers were lost and lost of ammunition.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown was the final Battle of the American Revolution. British General Lord Charles Cornwallis surrendered to General George Washington after they kept the British forces under attack for 3 weeks. The French blocked the British by sea and the Americans blocked they by land. They finally agreed to end the fighting in the colonies and declare peace.
