    The Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The Battles of Lexington and Concord was fought on April 19, 1775. It is significant as it is said to be the kick off of the American Revolutionary War that happened between 1775-1783.
    This event happened in mainly Massachusetts and it was caused by the long built up tensions between residents of the American colonies and the British.
    However, the British retreated under intense fire from the American colonists led by commander John Pitcairn.

    Battle of Quebec occured on December 31, 1775. Patriot forces under Colonel Benedict Arnold and General Richard Montgomery attempted to over take the city of Quebec that was being occupied by the British. The Americans requested the city’s surrender but was rebuffed.They then attacked but however, failed and has caused Montgomery to lose his life. This battle is significant as it was the first major defeat of the American Revolutionary War.

    This battle also known as the Battle of Brooklyn was fought on August 27, 1776. It was the first major battle to take place after the declaration of independence on July 4, 1776.
    This battle was a British Campaign to gain control of New York and isolates New England from the other colonies. Washington was defeated and could have had to surrender his entire force, but continued to fight against the British. However, the American was still driven out of Brooklyn and forced to evacuate New York.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Battle of Trenton
    Troops of George Washington crossed the icy Delaware on December 25, 1776. They won two crucial battles of the American Revolution and one of them was the Battle of Trenton.
    In this battle, Washington defeated a formidable garrison of Hessian mercenaries before withdrawing. He then returned and lure the British troops southwards and executed a night march to capture Princeton. This victory allowed America to gain control over New Jersey and improved morale and unity of the colonial army.
  • The Battle of Charleston

    The Battle of Charleston
    This battle was on the major battles that took place towards the end of the Revolution.
    It was a success for the British after shifting their strategy to focus on the south. They over took cities and harbour that allowed them to conduct operations to rally support.
    Conversely, the lost of Charleston painfully blown the Americans. 2500 continentals and numerous supplies were captured. Continental Army Major, Benjamin Lincoln eventually surrendered forces numbering about 5,000 to the British.

    In late 1781, a combined American and French troops laid seige to the British Army at Yorktown, Virginia. T
    his was led by George Washington and a French General Comte de Rochambeau.
    The attack started on the Oct 14, where 2 British defended and lead to the surrender.
    Yorktown was proved to be the final batter of the American Revolution. Due to the victory, British began peace negotiation with America.
