  • Battle of Lexington

    The kings' troop also known as redcoats reached Lexington and nearby was 70 minutemen. Someone fired at the British soldier and that became the first battle of the war, also that battle lasted 15 minutes. One British soldier was injured, 8 minute men killed and 10 wounded.
  • Battle of Concord

    The British reached Concord and found an empty arsenal and marched back to Boston. When they begin to march between 3,000 to 4,000 minutemen fired at them killing them in groups, the remaining British soldiers went back to Boston. Britain had a new enemy and that was the colonist.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    British general Thomas Gage wanted to strike the militia on Breed's Hill. He sent 2,400 soldiers up the hill, the colonist held there fire till the end before retreating. 450 colonist was killed but the British has 1,000 casualties. This was the deadliest battle of the war.
  • New York

    The summer of 1776 the British sailed into New York harbor with 32,000 troops. The Continental Army tried to defend but had untrained and poorly equipped soldiers and retreated across the Delaware river into Pennsylvania.
  • Trenton

    Washington led 2,400 men across the Delaware River in a small rowboat then marched to Trenton, New Jersey. He defeated a town defended by Hessians in a surprise attack.
  • Philadelphia

    The British captured the capital at Philadelphia after regrouping at Trenton. The where busy holding Philadelphia they could not go help Burgoyne.
  • Saratoga

    Burgoyne was fighting American troops but his fellow officers was holding Philadelphia. He was surrounded by American troops and surrenders. His surrender turned out the be the most important in the war.
  • Valley Forge

    The French alliance with the Americans and it took place in Paris. Washington and his Army was low on food and supplies in Valley Forge and fought to stay alive in winter camp. More than 2,000 people died but the survivors was not abandoned.
  • Marquis De Lafayette

    Marquis De Lafayette arrived to offer help with the French reinforcements. He led command in the last years of the war and with his help the Continental Army became an effective force of fighting.
