    On the night of April 18th, Paul Revere was getting tips that there would be a raid for the city of Concord. He was dedicated to alert everyone on horseback that the redcoats were coming. It was very important because he tried helping them out and now everybody remembers that experience as something that began the revolution.

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    Besides Paul Revere`s ride, the Battles of Lexington and Concord kicked off the revolution;tensions between the thirteen colonies and Britain were growing stronger. British troops marched over to Concord in order to seize them, but Paul Revere alerted the colonists beforehand. A confrontation at Lexington is the reason for the fighting which caused the British troops to retreat quickly. This event is very important because it is what "officially" started the revolution.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    British troops defeated the Americans in this battle. The British were extremely prepared for this attack, they attacked heavily causing the Americans to retreat. Although the Americans lost, they were able to inflict a lot of damage on the opposing team. This gave them a confidence boost which is the reason why this event was significant. After this loss, Americans were not discouraged, they decided that they would prepare better and give a much better fight.

    This was a document created by the colonists which was used to state the reasons why they wanted to separate from Britain. In this document, the colonists confirm their alliance to France and France confirms that they will help during the war.

    General George Washing thought about the crossing of the Delaware River as a strategic movement, he decided that the element of surprise would be the only way for them to gain a victory after months of defeats and no major victories. The crossing of the Delaware River was an important event because it foreshadowed the hardships that the Continental Army was going through and how all of that pain would end up being worth it at the end.

    The first battle, many British officers were killed on open fields, they became disheartened, but then German troops came to attack. The Americans lost on the field, but they did not have as many casualties as the British. Due to this, the British lost the second battle of Saratoga. The battles of Saratoga were quite important, it was considered the turning point of the war in favor of the Americans which is why these battles were so significant to the revolution.

    The Battle of Philadelphia
    General Washington had set up defensive positions to guard the route between Baltimore and Philadelphia, but General Howe outsmarted him and attacked from a different way which forced the Continental Army to retreat. Due to this defeat, the Continental Army went on a losing streak for a while which is the significance of the event.

    In the course of ten days, General George Washington was able to win two crucial battles. The most important was the Battle of Trenton because Washington defeated a garrison of Hessian mercenaries. This was important because it showed that the Continental Army was becoming better and stronger. They also had most control over almost all of New Jersey again.

    It was a difficult situation because at this point, the Continental Army was very deteriorated because they were starving and freezing. They were running short on the most basic necessities of human life. It was important because it shows some of the hardships they faced due to not only losing wars, but also nature.

    George Washington and the French troops had completely encircled Cornwallis and Yorktown, and for three weeks of non-stop bombardment of attacks day-and-night. This caused Cornwallis to surrender to General Washington. This event is extremely important because it was considered the end to the war.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris formally ended the war, it was a treaty signed by both parties to show that there were going to be boundaries between them from now on. It was important because it showed how America was finally going to grow on its own and not with the help or delay of the British.
