  • Continental Congress Meets

    The Continental Congress met up on September 5, 1774 (9/05/1774) to talk about the British. They talked about the votes to send a statement of grievances. The Virginia or VA representative ( Patrick Henry) urged the colonists to unite and fight against the British.
  • Midnight Ride with Paul Revere

    Paul Revere was a colonist who would warn others if something bad was going to happen. On April 18th, 1775 (4/18/1775) Paul Revere was taking a night ride around the area and heard and saw the British. He quickly rode back and yelled to the colonists that the British were coming!
  • Battle of Lexington

    Battle of Lexington
    The Battle of Lexington was the first real battle of the American Revolutionary War. It was also the first battle between the British and the Americans. During the fight there was the "shot heard around the world" and that gun shot was the first of the battle. The British ended up winning the fight 1-0 British. This battle was fought on April 19, 1775 (4/19/1775).

    The Battle of Concord was the second battle between the Americans and the British. Americans stop the British and forced them to retreat back to Boston. The Americans won that fight. 2-1 This battle was fought on April 19, 1775. (4/19/1775)
  • Capturing Fort Ticonderoga

    Two colonists named Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen captured the fort. They took all the supplies including cannons. The capturing was an American Victory. 2-1. They captured the fort on May 10, 1775 ( 5/10/1775)
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The battle of Bunker Hill was fought on June 16, 1775. The battle was on Breed's Hill. A man named William Pescott stated in the fight that no one should shoot until you see the white of their eyes. British won the fight because the Americans ran out of ammunition causing them to retreat. After the battle the British learned that it wouldn't be easy to beat the Americans. 1-1

    The congress made a continental Army. The army was led by George Washington. They set up a post office so it could print a lot of money. Sent a man named Olive Branch to ask the king to protect their rights. The King sent 30,000 Hessian soldiers in response. This Congress was on May 10,1775 (5/10/1775)

    The Declaration of Independence (DOI)
    The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson on June 7, 1776. It took him 86 changes until it was complete with the help of John Adams. The Declaration of Independence was signed by Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, George Washington, and much more. The Declaration of Independence helped America gain its independence from the British.
  • Battles of Trenton and New Jersey

    From December 25, 1776 (12/25/1776) to December 26, 1776 (12/26/1776) George Washington's army crossed Delaware in the snow to get to Trenton to fight the battle. It took almost 10 days for the Americans to win two major battle wins. Americans are now winning 4-2.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga was fought on September 19, 1777 (9/17/1777). This battle was the climax of the Saratoga campaign. The Americans won this fight over the British. 5-2 America is winning.
  • British captures Philadelphia

    The British captured Philadelphia on September 26, 1777 ( 9/26/1777). Portions of the Americans weren't there to help fight the British because they were at another battle. This helped the British regroup and give them another win in the Revolutionary War. 6-4 Americans still winning.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation was an agreement between the original 13 states/colonies of the U.S that served its first Constitution. After much debate and discussion it was approved. It was approved on November 15, 1777 by the Second Continental Congress.
  • Congress prohibits enslaved people from being imported to the U.S

    Congress prohibited enslaved people from being imported to the U.S in 1778. They did this because they wanted to keep their slaves/enslaved people to keep doing hard labor. They called this the Slave Act.

    The Constitution of the United States is the supreme and biggest law in America. It originally had 7 articles. Those 7 articles delineates the national frame of the government. This Constitution happened from 1777 through 1778..
  • Spain declares war on Britain

    On June 21, 1779 (6/21/1779) Spain declared war on Great Britain. This declaration of was created a "de facto" alliance with the Americans. Spain's King Charles the Third didn't consent to the treay of alliance with the Americans.
  • Winter Valley Forge

    Valley Forge functioned and was used in the third of eight Winter encampments for the Continental Army. They used it as a camp site for General George Washington's soldiers during the Revolutionary War. This Valley was used from December 19, 1777 ( 12/19/1777) to June 19, 1778 ( 6/19/1778).
  • John Paul Jones and Serapis

    In 1779 the HMS Serapis was sailed by John Paul Jones The Serapis was a Royal Navy two-decked ship.The ship began being disabled because of rough waters. He swore he would still fight after the ship being disabled. After 3 hours John Paul Jones and the Serapis won the Americans Seas.

    The capture of Charles town was also called the Siege of Charles town. This battle stared on March 29, 1780 (3/29/1780) and May 12, 1780 (5/12/1780). This was a major victory for the British. 5-3
  • British surrenders Yorktown

    British surrenders Yorktown
    Was also called the Siege of Yorktown. This battle started on September 28, 1781 ( 9/28/1780) and ended on October 19, 1781 (10/19/1781). America made the British surrender Yorktown. A major win for the Americans 6-3.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris was signed September 3, 1783 (9/3/1783). The Treaty of Paris was signed by representatives of Great Britain, America, and Paris which was signed by King George the Third. This Treaty officially ended the Revolutionary War.
