  • Lincoln's reelection

    People were mad because they blamed the war on him.
  • Civil War Ends

    Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrenders. They meet at the McClean house. Both generals know the house well. Grand does not arrest Lee after the surrender because they have a sort of understanding of one another.
  • Lincolns Assasination

    5 days after the end of the Civil War, John W. Booth shot President Lincoln in the head at a theater in Washington D.C.
  • John Booth's Death

    John Booth is found and shot in a barn down the road from the theater. He is there resting because he broke is leg.
  • Presidental Plans

    (Made up specific date) After the war and Lincoln's assassination, something needed to be done to create peace. Lincoln's plan consisted of the 10% rule. Johnson's Plan would punish confederate soldiers and make then take an oath. The Radical's plan wanted to punish the entire south and create military zones to keep the peace.
  • Conspirators Hanging

    The co-conspirators of Booth were executed by hanging in July of 1865. This included the doctor who reset Booth's leg after he assassinated the President.

  • The KKK Was Founded

    The KKK was started by former Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest. It depicts violence and targets African Americans and those who sympathize or help them.
  • Grant becomes President

    Grant is elected president and he was set on passing the Fifteenth Amendment which granted African Americans full citizenship.
  • The Enforcement Act of 1871

    This Act was the last of 3 enforcement acts from 1870-1871. This allows the president the right to enforce martial law on terrorist groups and their acts of violence.
  • 1876 Election

    Hayes from the North goes against Tilden from the South. Tilden won by points but Congress decided Hayes won because of turmoil from the War.
