    Navigation Act

    The Navigation Act or the Acts of Trade and Navigation was a law passed by the English Parliament that took control of the flux of commerce between other countries and Great Britain’s other colonies. This resulted in the Anglo-Dutch War with the Netherlands in 1652.

    The French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years’ War was a conflict between Great Britain and France to who would gain the colonies. In the end, Britain won and France was forced to give up the land they had except for Quebec.

    Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act of 1765 was a law passed by the English Parliament that put taxes on any signed commercial documents, such as newspapers, playing cards, and other things of the sort. It resulted in mass revolt from the colonies and the Parliament did remove the Stamp Act in 1766, however, in the same day, they also passed the Declaratory Acts, which meant Great Britain had total control over the colonies in the New World.

    Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a shootout that happened in Boston on March 8 1770. A group of British soldier shot and killed 5 colonists while injuring 7 more. The colonists were throwing sticks and stones at the soldiers, whom retaliated with a shooting. It resulted in the 13 colonies to unite and to form a plan to break free from British rules.

    The Tea Act was a law that was passed by the English Parliament with the main goal being reduced the price of tea that the British East Indian Company was selling being distributed to America to prevent it from dying. It directly resulted in the Boston Tea Party that eventually led to the American Revolution.

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest that occurred in Boston, Massachusetts. It’s purpose was to act as a way to let the British know that they couldn’t tax the colonists with representing them by dumping hundreds of tea barrels in the harbor sea. This resulted in the Intolerable Acts of 1774 and also the Boston Port Act.

    The Coercive/Intolerable Acts

    The Coercive Acts, or most known as the Intolerable Acts were a collection of laws that were meant to punish the colonists after the Boston Tea Party. It includes laws such as the Boston Port Act and the Quartering Act. It’s result was somewhat ironic, however, since it’s main point was to make sure the colonists weren’t going to revolt anymore, but instead the colonists were even more determined to break from Great Britain.

    The First Continental Congress was the name for the meeting of the 13 colonies that would eventually become America. It’s purpose was to formulate ways to boycott the English goods until the Parliament dismissed the Intolerable Acts. It resulted in the colonies deciding to fight for their independence.

    Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were a series of battles that were fought between April 19 1775 to 1783. The Colonists and the Redcoats arduously fought around the Massachusetts Bay, and even though the Colonists suffered losses, they eventually came out victorious. It resulted in the start of the American War of Independence and the “shot heard ‘round the world”.

    The Second Continental Congress was the second meeting that the 13 colonies would participate in to discuss matters such as the English goods boycott and most importantly, acting like a government. It appointed ambassadors, appointed generals for army leadership, and issued paper currency. It resulted in George Washington being appointed as the commander of the Continental Army.

    The Declaration of Independence’s adoption occurred on July 4 1776, on Independence Hall. It was extremely important because in it, it contains the ideas and goals that the colonists wanted for America. It resulted in America cutting off ties with Britain’s political connections and allowed them to thrive for independence.

    The Battle of Saratoga was a war that occurred two years after the American Revolution. It had two significant battles, and it’s ending resulted in a turning point for the Continental Army and convinced France, Spain, and the Netherlands to join the cause against a mutual enemy.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    Winter at Valley Forge

    Winter on Valley Forge was a 6-month event that occurred in the winter of 1777 where George Washington and former Prussian military officer Friedrich Baron von Steuben trained the weak military the Army had to a respectable and formidable force. It resulted in a stronger military, but sadly many soldiers passed away due to disease and poor medical care such as amputation with improper tools.

    The Battle of Yorktown was the final battle of the American Revolution that occurred on October 19 1781. It was a phenomenal win to the colonists which would become the Americans because not only did they free themselves from Britain’s rules but they could start their own nation with justified rules and balances, without taking people’s natural laws away from them.

    The Constitution of the United States was created on September 17 1787 and then ratified on June 21 1788. It’s purpose was to create a government that had enough power to act on a national scale, but didn’t have too much power that the people’s rights would be at risk of losing. It resulted in America establishing a government that would respect the people that they were supposed to serve.
