    In April 1775, a spy told general gage about the colonists’ weapons and gunpowder. Gage decided to attack at once, however the colonists had spies of their own. Revere and Dawes told the colonists the british were coming. The American Captain John Parker ordered the colonists not to fire unless fired upon. A random bullet was shot and eight colonists lay dead after the british stopped firing.Ten were limping. The next morning, the British were looking for the colonists weapons.

    Frustrated by Not being able to find anything, they burned up many things. Later Captain Isaac Davis got shot dead by the british troops. The British thought the colonists would flee but it was the british who fled at the end. The colonists fury defeated the British. However, the British’s biggest mistake was thinking ordinary people wouldn’t fight for their rights.

The weary American forces camped on the other side of the Delaware River never knew that it would be turning point for America. This was Washington’s last chance to keep America in the war. Washington made decision for a full out attack on the Hessian town on the other side.

    Washington bravely led his troops and the artillery over the icy river for the sneak attack, so he camped on the other side of the river. The next morning on December 25, Washington attacked. The Hessians had the least thought of the Americans attacking them because it was Christmas and they thought the Americans had no supplies for them to attack. The attack worked. After the loss of their leader, they surrendered. News of the American Victory spread everywhere.

    The New Jersey Colonists took back their pact with the British and joined the American War. New recruits joined the Continental Army. The Ragtag Army gained morale for the first time during the war. Even though they won this battle, the war was not over yet.

    There On October 17, 1777 was the turning point of the revolutionary war. The 5,895 british and hessian troops had to surrender their arms to the Americans. Being lead by Burgyone, the british’s original plan was to divide and conquer by advancing from Canada to the Hudson Valley to Albany. When he arrived he would be joined by other british troops who were being lead by Howe.

    In the late September of 1777 and early October, Burgyone’s army positioned the Americans in between themselves and Albany. Finally on October 7, 1777 Burgyone took the offensive. The British troops fought the Americans south of the town of Saratoga and the British got creamed and the Americans even took about 90% of the British left hostage. The victory over the British was very critical in the Battle of Saratoga because it gave the American’s a new hope.

    February 16, 1778. George having a hard time to survive the winter at Valley Forge because they had no food to survive and no water to drink. All they had was fire to keep them warm blankets to keep them from the cold. The British bought food from local farmers and they paid them gold and paper money. After all that hard time on the Valley Goerge had a lot of volunteers to fight with him and die with him on the battlefield.
