    Columbus's Last Voyage

    During Columbus's last voyage, he continued his quest for a sea route to China. While Columbus did explore some parts of Central America, his ships disintegrated which left him and his men stranded for a year. Christopher Columbus later died in 1506.

    Cortes Conquers the Aztec Empire

    During 1519-1521 Hernan Cortes and his group of men brought down the Aztec Empire in Mexico. His conquests laid the foundation for colonial regimes which would transform the Americas.

    During Verrazano's voyage to North America, he recorded details which were unknown to European mapmakers. His discoveries shaped the construction of maps which would be used by later explorers.

    Sir Francis Drake was the first English man to circumnavigate the globe, and the second ever to complete it. His circumnavigation of the globe was a secret pirate mission against Spain, which was sanctioned by Queen Elizabeth.
