    Vasco Nunez

    Vasco Núñez de Balboa (1475-1519) helped set up the firstt settlement on the South American continent at Darién, thi was located on the coastline of Panama. he led an expedition to find gold and a new sea. while he was out on his expedition he was the first explorer to see the pacific ocean, he claimed it for Spain and all the shores next to it.

    His first voyage was in the atlantic ocean in 1476, this voyage almost cost him his life when french pirates attacked the ship. before discovering America Christopher Colombus had many expeditions to Africa.He left sopain in the Santa Maria ship, after sailing for 36 days he finally found land in what is now present day Bahams, he claimed the land for Spain. Colombus was a great sailor and he discovered many great places, including America.

    Francisco Pizzaro

    life in the spanish colonies during the age of exploration was hard especially for the natives who lived there.One of the well known spanish explorers who conquered almost all of south america was Francisco Pizzaro. Pizarro was with Nunez de Balboa during his 1513 expedition in Panama. Balboa’s expedition is believed to be the first time any European saw the Pacific Ocean. Pizzaro had conquered the inca empire. In 1533, the Incan capital of Cuzco fell to the Spaniards.

    Ferdinand Magellan

    Ferdinand Magellan (c. 1480–1521). Was originally born in lisbon, portugal. In September 1519 Magellan’s fleet sailed from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain, and crossed the Atlantic Ocean, which was then known simply as the Ocean Sea. The fleet reached South America a month later.

    Gonzalo Pizzaro

    Born in Spain around 1502, Gonzalo Pizarro was the half-brother of conquistador Francisco Pizarro. He was also one of the men who helped overthrow the Inca empire around 1530's. One sad thing that happened to him was that he tried to overthrow the Spanish government and was executed in Peru on April 10, 1548.

    Hernando de Soto

    Hernando de Soto was born c. 1500 in Jerez de los Caballeros, Spain. Hernando de Soto took part in Francisco Pizzaros expeedition, he helped conquer the Inca empire. In 1539 he set out for North America, where he discovered the Mississippi River. he then later died of a fever.

    Hernan Cortes

    he was a conquistador who overthrew the Aztec empire and won Mexico for the crown of Spain. He is one of the most well known Spanish explorers. Hernan disobeyed orders from his captain Diego Valquez who refused him to take over the Aztec empire, while e was in the middle of conquering the empire, Spanish troops were after him and wanted to arrest him.

    Francisco de Carvajal

    francisco was born in April 10, 1548. He was a strong military soldier and conquistador. Carvajal travelled to the Spanish West Indies and he worked with the Pizzaro brothers in the conquest of Peru. He was captured by the rivals they were fighting and excecuted at the age of eighty four.
