This is my personal timeline exposure to traditional and new media. -
Television
Definition: An instrument used to present moving images with the presence of sound. It is used to broadcast networks and with a very limited programs. Television is one of the most important inventions of the twentieth century. Television is a good and healthy source of both entertainment and education. Personal Insight: I started watching TV at age 2. Mostly, I watch cartoons because it's fun. It is probably the most common media platform at that time because almost every house has one. -
Radio
Definition: An instrument with the presence of radio waves to carry information transmitted through space to carry impulses. It is first used as source of entertainment. Radio systems also need an antenna to convert electric currents into radio waves, and radio waves into an electric current. An antenna can be used for both transmitting and receiving. Personal Insight: Radio is much older than TV but in my time TV is much popular so I only appreciated it when I was 3. -
Books
Definition: It is a medium for recording information in the form of writing or images, typically composed of many pages bound together and protected by a cover. Personal Insight: I started using coloring books, text books, and story books when I learned how to read. It is older than TV and radio but I can only use it when I learned how to read which was 5. -
Newspaper
Definition: a paper that is printed and distributed usually daily or weekly and that contains news, articles of opinion, features, and advertising. Personal Insight: When I was young I only read it sometimes because my father usually read it a lot. Before, the comics strip is only interesting I usually read in a newspaper. -
Personal Computer
Definition: A computer is a machine that can be instructed to carry out sequences of arithmetic or logical operations automatically via computer programming. Modern computers have the ability to follow generalized sets of operations, called programs. These programs enable computers to perform an extremely wide range of tasks. Personal Insight: It a very useful machine especially partnered with internet which can make your job and assignments for me a whole lot faster. -
Internet Explorer
Definition: It is a series of graphical web browsers developed by Microsoft and included in the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems. Personal Insight: First web browser that I used in the PC. It allows you to browse or search anything you want with internet. You can also search other media platforms with these. Make assignment very easy. -
Facebook
Definition: It is an online social networking website where people can create profiles, share information such as photos and quotes about themselves, and respond or link to the information posted by others. Personal Insight: I do not like sharing a lot of information and profile in Facebook but I definitely like this app because I can receive and send information and message conveniently. -
Yahoo!
Definition: Yahoo is an online application that provides free of charge and can be downloaded and used with a generic "Yahoo ID" which also allows access to other Yahoo services, such as Yahoo Mail, where users can be automatically notified when they receive new email. Personal Insights: When I first made my Facebook account I use Yahoo mail as an email address. It provides me with a lot of content of media and entertainment especially Yahoo Sports where I get daily NBA news. -
Google
Definition: It is a software application for accessing information on the World Wide Web provided by Google. Personal Insight: For me, it is the best internet browser because aside from it search engine it also connects me with their many apps for different uses like Gmail for mailing and email addresses, YouTube for watching and posting videos online, Google Drive for storing data in the Internet and many more. -
Smartphone
A smartphone is a mobile device that combines cellular and mobile computing functions into one unit. They are distinguished from feature phones by their stronger hardware capabilities and extensive mobile operating systems, which facilitate wider software, internet including web browsing and mobile broadband, and multimedia functionality including music, video, cameras, and gaming, alongside core phone functions such as voice calls and text messaging. Personal Insight: A device with everything. -
Laptop
Definition: a computer that is portable and suitable for use while traveling. Personal Insight: A very useful tool for travelling or your on the go. It has built in software applications that you can use anywhere plus Internet browsing if you have a connection. Useful at school and work. Makes my life easy
