  • Early life

    Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12 1809. Lincoln lived in a town Kenya Kentucky lived in a one room log cabin. His family moved to Southern Indiana In 1816. Lincoln's formal schooling was limited to three brief periods in local schools, as he had to work constantly to support his family.
  • Growing up

    Abraham had very little formal education, but had a strong interest in books and learning. Most of what he learned was self-educated and from books he borrowed. His family later moved to Illinois where Lincoln would set out on his own.As a young man, Lincoln worked a variety of jobs including shopkeeper, surveyor, and postmaster. For a time, he even split firewood with an Axe for a living. He soon moved into politics and won a seat in the Illinois Legislature when he was 25.

    Mary Todd married Abraham Lincoln on November 4, 1842, at her sister Elizabeth's home in Springfield, Illinois. She was 23 years old and he was 33 years of age. Before he married her he dated to other girls
  • His sons

    Lincolns first son was born 1846 and died 1850 due to tuberculosis. He had another son named William Wallace he was born 1850 .died 1862.
  • Elected

    The election was held on Tuesday, November 6, 1860. In a four-way contest, the Republican Party ticket of Abraham Lincoln and Hannibal Hamlin emerged triumphant. The election of Lincoln served as the primary catalyst of the American Civil War.

Twenty-six-year-old Booth was one of the most famous actors in the country when he shot Lincoln during a performance at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C., on the night of April 14.
