    Abraham lincoln was born on Febuary 12, 1809 in Kentucky.

  • Mom died

    Abe's mom died of "milk sickness" which really effected Abe and his family a lot. She kept the house together and it kinda fell apart after she died.

  • Dad Left

    Abraham's dad left him and his sister in their log cabin as he set out for a new wife. This created a drift between Abe and his dad because he resented him for abandoning him and his sister, in the cabin, with little food.

  • Dad comes back

    Abe's dad now came back with a new wife, and the children were very brittle and skinny. Abe didnt mind the new wife though because she tried to keep the family together and treated him and his sister like her own children. However, Abe thought his dad was selfish for leaving him and never really created a bond with his dad again.

  • Sister dies of childbirth

    Lincolns sister got married and then got pregnant where she died of childbirth. This took a toll on Abe because he was very close with his sister and had already lost his mom.

  • First Politcal Speech

    Abe gave his actual first politcal speech which prepared him for his later speeches in life, which he's known for.

  • Elected to Legislator

    Abe was elected to the state legislator as a Whig, in springfeild illions.

  • Telegraph

    Lincoln began to use the telegraph in the civil war which transmited electrical signals. This was a key in the waar, and could be a major reason they won.

  • Mary Todd

    Lincoln married his first and only wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, They had four kids where only 1 survived a long life. MAry became depressed because of the death of her children, which Lincoln felt bad about. 0

  • Congress

    LIncoln was elected into congresss, and won.

  • Senator

    Because of his win for congress, he tried to run for senator but was defeated.

  • Lincoln's Dad

    Lincolns dad died in 1853, at the age 73. Lincoln didn't go to his funeral because he still resented him for abondoning him when he was little. Lincoln decided, because of his failed relationship with his father, that he didn't need to go his funeral.

  • President

    Lincoln announced that he was running for president.

  • 11 year old

    Before he became president, an 11 year old girl sent Lincoln a letter that she thought he would look better with a beard. This is the reason that he grew one and had one for most rest of his life.

  • Inaugurated

    Lincoln was officially named the 16th president of the United States. This was a huge success for Lincoln and he was ready to fight to save the union.

  • Civil War

    The civil war broke out which was a fight over slaves and states rights. The confederate states left the union and Lincoln had to do anything he coukd to save the union.

  • Emancipation Proclomation

    Lincoln announced the emancipation proclomation which said that all slaves in the confederate states were free. This was an attempt at getting the war to be over.

  • Gettysburg Address

    This is one of Lincolns most well known speeches, because it he talked about how the union would be saved. He was detirmined to beat the confederacy and preserve the United States.

  • Assassination

    Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated. He was in Ford Theatre with his wife where he was shot right in the head and later died.

  • Mary Todd Lincoln

    After Lincoln was assassinated, Mary became deeply deppressed and a court declared her mentally insance. 4 months later she was released and put into her sisters care.
