    Lincolon was born about dawn on a sunday in a log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky. His father was Thomas Lincoln and his mother was Nancy Hanks Lincoln.     Mother's Death
    When Abraham was 9 years old his mother died of tremetol (milk sickness) at the age of 34. This was a very devastating for him. After his mother died he and his sister became very close, and his sister took charge of taking care of him. His father put alot of responsibity and hard work on him at such a young age which Abraham resented.

    Nicephore Niepce was one of the inventors of photography, he was born March 7, 1765- July 5, 1833. Nicephore Niepce was not the only who helped with inventing photography but he often gets credit for it. He is known for producing the worlds first photograph, also the first to fix a picture.     In 1831 Abraham Lincoln leaves his family to be on his own making a living in manual labor. He was known for his skill in wielding an ax and ealier made a living on splitting wood for fire and rail fencing.     Abraham was elected to the state legislature.This is where he became friends with John Todd Stuart who was a lawyer in Illinose and inspried Lincoln to study law.     In 1842 Abraham Marries Mary Todd from Lexington Kentucky. They came from different backgrounds but had alot in common. They both admired Henry Clay and had love for Kentucky. There engagement was once brokeen, but they were married in Mary's sister's home in Springfield Illinois. They had 4 children together, Robert Todd Lincoln, born August 1 1843. Edward Baker Lincoln, born March 10 1846. William Wallace Lincoln, born December 21 1850. Thomas Lincoln, born April 4 1853.
  • Elected to Congress

    Elected to Congress
    In 1846 Lincoln was elected to the U.S. Congress. During his term he made his views clear that he wanted to abolish slavery. He had viewed slavery as a "moral, social and political wrong". The people back home in Illinois and claimed he was "not a patriot". He then thought his political career was over and returned to practicing law for the next 12 years.     In 1860 Abraham Lincoln was elected the 16th president of the United States of America. He was the first Republican to become president. Due to his views and his thoughts on slavery, 7 southern states were unhappy with this and broke from the union and formed the Confederate States of America.     President Lincoln was attending a special performance of " Our American Cousin" with his wife on April 14. He was shot in the back of his head and murdered by John Wilkes Booth as he sat in the "State Box" at Fords Theatre in Washington D.C. He was carried across the street to the Petersen House. The bullet had entered behind the left ear and ripped a path through the left side of his brain. He died the next morning.
