A conference called by the state government invite the Commonwealth and State Authorities to discuss Aboriginal welfare. This resulted in the decision to apply the Assimilation Policy for some Aboriginal people.

Following the 1937 conference, Queensland pass the legislation allowing Aboriginal people to recieve worker's compensation.

Darwin is bombed by the Japanese. Arnhem Land has a special reconaissance unit composed of Aboriginal people. Whilst in the Nothern Territory Aboriginal missions are halted.

The Holt government arranged a vote regarding changes in the Australian Constution concerning Indigenous Australians. The majority of votes were in support of the changes. Aboriginals are now counted in the population.
