    First Birthday
    This was my first brithday, as I turned 1 year old. I celebrated it with my family. This includad my parents, my grandparents and all my cousins. This was celebrated on 29th January 2008 at my house. We decorated our house with ribbons and balloons . We also played lots of games and we cut a cake.
  • New Year celebrations

    New Year celebrations
    I had celebrated New Year on 31 December 2009 with my family in Hongkong. This day is the last day of the year 2009 and the start of the New Year 2010. We celebrated it going to Disneyland along with my family. We also did a lot of singing and dancing, along with cartoon characters. We saw the firework show, ate goodies and enjoyed a lot.

    India Independence day
    Indian independence day is on 15th August . India got independence from The British on 15th August 1947. I celebrated this day in school with my teachers and friends. We hoisted the Indian flag and everyone salutes it as a mark of respect. We hoisted the Indian flag in school and sang the national anthem.
  • Navratri celebrations

    Navratri celebrations
    I celebrated the Navratri festival with my friends, family and cousins. During Navratri, we sing prayers for goddess Durga and do a traditional dance that is called garba and dandiya for 9 days. I sang lots of prayers at home. Then we dressed in traditional Indian costumes and danced on the traditional songs.
  • Rakshabandhan celebrations

    Rakshabandhan celebrations
    I celebrated Rakshabandhan with my family on 5th August. In Rakshabandhan, the sister ties a thread on her brother's hand and asks him to protect her forever. Raksha means 'protect' and bandhan means' to tie '.The thread is called "rakhi". I celebrated it at my house. I put a traditional tilak on my brother's forhead and tied a rakhi on his hand. We also exchanged gifts.

    Holi celebrations
    We celebrated the festival 'Holi' at my grandparents house, with my family and friends on 5th March. According to the Indian mythology, the Holi festival is celebrated to mark the victory of goodness over evil. We burn a fire and pray that all the bad thoughts and habits within us burn with the fire. On the next day, we played Holi by putting colours and water on each other as a mark of brotherhood and friendship. I enjoyed Holi a lot. It is one of my favorite festivals.
  • Diwali celebrations in Mumbai

    Diwali celebrations in Mumbai
    I celebrated the Diwali festival this year in Mumbai, along with my family and cousins. This is the most important festival for my culture. It is also our New Year. I celebrated it wth lots of lights and fire crackers. This celebration was at my grandmother's house in India. We distributed lots of sweets and wished everyone a Happy Diwali and New Year.
