Exact date not available. Starwar was almost the first computer game ever written, however, there were two lesser known computer games, (OXO 1952) and (Tennis for Two 1958). It took 200 man hours to write the first version of Spacewar. Steve Russell was the creator and donated the computer the game was written on to MIT, hoping they would be able to make his product something. Steve Russell never profited from his product. http://inventors.about.com/od/sstartinventions/a/Spacewar.htm

Actual date not available. In 1963 Phillips Electronics introduced the "compact cassette," which contained a length of audio tape. It was intended to replace the bulkier reel-to-reel tape. The cassette tape was intended to be a smaller, more convenient way to record dictation. After a few adjustments, it was found to have better audio quality than that of a vinyl record. http://cassette.umwblogs.org/impact/

James Fergason holds patents in LCD's
(Liquid Crystal Displays.) Liquid crystals are chemicals can be aligned into precise patterns when exposed to electrical fields. When properly aligned the crystals allow light to filter through them. First design between 1964 and 1968 led by scientist George Heilmeier. He used the Dynamic Scattering Method, but his design didn't work as well and took to much energy. James Fergason's method was used instead. http://inventors.about.com/od/lstartinventions/a/ -
Inventor was Alan Shugart. The nickname "floppy" came from how the disk was flexible. It was popular because it was a way to transport data from computer to computer. At first floppy disks were used to fill another type of data storage on the computer. But, new uses for the memory disk were discovered shortly. In 1976 Shugart designed the 5 1/4 inch floppy disk, because Wang Laboratories wanted smaller memory disks for their computers. When discussing the size with Wang he held a napkin.http://i

Exact date not available. Inventor: Martin Cooper. Cooper led a team for Motorola that designed the first practical cell phone. The device was called the DynaTAC and it was 9 inches and weighed almost three pounds. Cooper used one of the phones first calls to call rival competitor Joel Engel at Bell Labs. It would take many more years to make cell phones affordable and drive down production costs. http://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/inventions/who-invented-the-cell-phone.htm
