    Dred Scott was a slave that worked for John Emerson, he was a doctor for the army. He had brought Dred wherever he went, even free states, Dred thought that is was unfair and wanted freedom hence to the fact that he had stayed in free states. He went to court to ask for freedom, the North thought that this was good to show a figure that slaves should stand up for themselves. Whilst the South didn't want any slaves to rebel but than to be scared to be free. Sectionalism had clearly started.

    Speech given by Abraham Lincoln at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, he talked about the problem that was happeing with sectionalism and how the South had recently seceded from the Union. "A house divided by itself cannot stand." It said that a half is not as strong as a whole. He said that the Union needed to be a whole and be strong together instead of being separated. In a way Lincoln forshawed the war that was about to come at Fort Sumter.

They had said that they were going to be one again but they still wanted slavery. This was the Civil War, in the end the North won and the South become one with the United States Of America. There was no slavery left in U.S.A. This finalized sectionalism as well as the debating over slavery.
