Missouri wanted to be a state but was over the line of the Ohio river. The north wanted them to be a free state but the south wanted it to be a slave state. Missouri became a slave state but to keep the peace they admitted Maine as a free state. -

Kansas and Nebraska became territories and the south wanted them to be slave states the north wanted them to be free. They ended up being free. -

A slave owner took his slave to the south for a little bit and the slave tried to become free but it didn't work. It made the south happy and the north mad. -

Both Lincoln and Douglas were running for president. Lincoln was republican and Douglas was democrat. -

John Brown raids the Harpers Ferry to get more weapons and end slavery. -
