    Palestinian Civil Society call for BDS
    Over 100 Palestinian Civil Society organizations collectively called for a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign of Israel. Campaign demanded that Israeli State abides by international law, ends its occupation and colonization of all Arab lands, recognizes the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality; and respects, protects and promotes rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes.
  • Boycott World Pride

    Boycott World Pride
    QUIT led the international Boycott World Pride campaign, protesting Interpride's decision to hold the second World Pride celebration in occupied Jerusalem. This campaign grew to include dozens of queer organizations internationally and had a significant effect on the way the event was perceived in the media and in queer communities.

    Protests at World Pride in Jerusalem
    Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance (JOH) hosts the 2006 World Pride named “Love without Borders” in Jerusalem . Queer activists protest against the choice of this location. Groups who were vocal ASWAT, QUIT!, Helem and IGLHRC as well as queer Israeli anti-occupation groups.

    Campaign against TLVFest
    QUIT! called on international LGBT filmmakers not to submit their films or accept invitations to the Tel Aviv International LGBT Film Festival, known as TLVFest. At least one international filmmaker has declined to participate in the festival, citing then recent assault on Gaza as the deciding factor.

    VICTORY: Queers Against Israeli Apartheid win anti-censorship campaing against Toronto Pride
    The group Queers Against Israeli Apartheid (QuAIA) Toronto is banned from partaking in Toronto Pride with slogans saying “Israeli Apartheid.” The group launches a successful campaign against this censorship and free speech. QuAIA wins battle against censorship when Pride Toronto backs down on decision to censor group at 2010 pride parade.

    VICTORY: Madrid Gay Pride disinvites Israeli delegation
    In response to the Israel Defense Forces attack on the Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla in May 2010, Madrid Pride disinvites an Israeli delegation composed of members of an Israeli LGBT association and the Foreign Ministry from participating in the March.

    VICTORY: US Social Forum cancels Israeli pinkwashing event
    Arab queer groups urged US Social Forum to cancel the workshop “LGBTQI Liberation in the Middle East” proposed by self-declared Zionist propaganda organization “Stand With Us”. In a historic accomplishment, USF voted to cancel the “Stand With Us” workshop for “violating the submission procedure and transparency requirements for all workshops, and for being in violation of the anti-racist principles central to US Social Forum."

    Queer Palestinian activists tour the US
    Representatives of Palestinian queer organizations tour universities and community centers in the United States to talk about Queer Politics and the Palestinian Struggle. The tour, organized by writer, activist and professor Sarah Schulman, attracts over a 1000 people nationally and comes to mark Palestinian queer voices gaining momentum internationally.

    New York City LGBT center bans “Party Against Apartheid”
    NYC queer groups organize an Anti-apartheid party during Israeli Apartheid week at NYC's famous LGBT center. A slander campaign against the initiative, led by pornographic right-wing Michael Lucas, demands a ban of queer organizing around BDS and Israeli apartheid taking place at the center. The center heeds and bans party. Protest are still ongoing against the call.

    Activists protest Tel Aviv Gay Vibe in Berlin
    Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs brought the exhibit "Tel Aviv Gay Vibe - Free; Fun; Fabulous" to "the "world's leading travel trade show," Berlin's International Tourism Fair, kicking off a well-financed Israeli government campaign to bring lots of tourists to Tel Aviv. Queer activists challenge the event.

    Omar Barghouti and Sarah Schulman on Grittv: “Equal Rights for All in Palestine”
    After two years of being denied a visa for the United States, Omar Barghouti is interviewed on Grittv by Laura Flanders. Together with queer activist, writer and professor Sarah Schulman he discusses the BDS and the queer movements. This is the first time PQBDS is publicly recognized as part and parcel of the BDS movement.

    PQBDS launches “IGLYO OUT OF ISRAEL” Campaign
    “IGLYO out of Israel” is the first campaign led by Palestinian queer organizations to convince the International Gay and Lesbian Youth Organization to relocate its 2011 General Assembly (GA) from Tel Aviv, Israel. The campaign challenges IGLYO to reject further funding from the Israeli Government and to stop partake in a world wide campaign to re-brand Israel and pinkwash it’s crimes.

    A group of Arab activists and human rights organizations issued a statement about Israeli-linked group GayMiddleEast.com. In the statement, endorsed by a growing list of organizations across the Arab world and globally, the authors take GayMiddleEast.com to task for four issues: unwelcome and unsolicited intervention; co-optation of Arab voices; pinkwashing Israel; and violations of the Palestinian civil society call for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS).

    A disillusioned “gay activist” called “Marc” appeared in a YouTube video condemning Gaza Freedom Flotilla for alleged homophobia. He was identified as an Israeli called Omer Gershon. This definitely proved that the video is either a hoax or a piece of propaganda designed to discredit the flotilla and use a mask of concern for gay rights to pinkwash Israel and justify the persecution of Palestinians in Gaza.

    VICTORY: IGLYO Moves its GA Out of Israel
    VICTORY! IGLYO decides to cancel the General Assembly. However, in their withdrawal statement they encourage and support IGLYO's co-organizer Israeli Gay Youth's decision to organize an International LGBTQ Youth Leadership Summit in Tel Aviv. Although the “IGLYO out of Israel” campaign achieves its goal, IGLYO still ignores the demands of Palestinian queer groups, by encouraging MO's to partake in this Summit, violating the Palestinian BDS call.

    IGY announces its International Summit. The program that pretend to “train the next generation of leaders of the international LGBTQ community for social activism” consists of internal discussions and workshops, talks by Israeli politicians, visits to Tel Aviv gay bars, Jerusalem, and the Israeli Knesset.

    First US LGBT Delegation Visits Palestine
    Between January 7 and 13, 2012, a diverse group of lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer and trans activists, academics, artists, and cultural workers from the United States participated in a solidarity tour in the West Bank of Palestine and Israel. They released a statement condeming the occupation and apartheid of the Israeli state, denouncing pinkwashing, and calling on people of conscience to join the growing BDS movement against Israel.

    EXPOSED: Israel lobby group mascquerading as Iran human rights organization
    The Electronic Intifada investigated the NGO Iran180, which claims to work against human rights and gay rights abuses in Iran and found that it is staffed and funded by members of the Israel lobby in the US. In 2011, they staged a float at San Fancisco pride showing Mahmoud Ahmadinijad being raped with a missle.
